DHAKA, Feb 9, 2026 (BSS) – Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Muhammad Tajul Islam today said that a total of 457 individuals have been accused in different cases currently being tried in the two tribunals, which were reconstituted after August 5, 2024.
“Of these, 161 have been arrested so far, including 74 civilians such as former ministers, lawmakers, and Awami League leaders. A total of 65 former policemen have also been taken into custody under the cases,” Tajul said in a press briefing held this afternoon.
The ICT chief prosecutor further stated that a total of 34 miscellaneous cases have been filed with the special court, with ICT-1 handling 32 cases and the remaining two being dealt with by ICT-2.
“The prosecution has so far filed formal charges in 24 cases, of which three have been completed with pronouncement of judgment. ICT-1 pronounced judgment in two cases, while ICT-2 did so in one. A total of 26 people have been convicted and sentenced under these three cases, and one individual was recently pardoned,” he added.
