Procession held in support of “Sheaf of Paddy” candidate in Lalmonirhat

LALMONIRHAT, Feb 9, 2026 (BSS) - Thousands of people participated in a procession on Monday in support of BNP’s nominated candidate for Lalmonirhat-3 (Sadar) constituency Asadul Habib Dulu ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections.

The march began around 11:00 am from the historic MT Hossain Institute ground on Fire Service Road in the district town. Leaders and activists from various professional, social and cultural organizations, along with members of the general public, joined the procession irrespective of party affiliation or political ideology.

Prior to the procession, BNP National Executive Committee Organizing Secretary and Lalmonirhat-3 candidate Asadul Habib Dulu addressed the gathering. He said the election campaign had reached a new dimension due to the spontaneous participation of ordinary people.

Dulu expressed gratitude to the leaders and activists of different organizations who joined the campaign, regardless of their direct involvement in party politics. He reiterated his commitment to building a prosperous, peaceful and united Lalmonirhat, calling for collective efforts while avoiding divisive and arrogant politics.

Pledging to stand beside the common people if elected, Dulu said, “You all have guarded me so far; if elected, I will also be by your side to guard you.”

He urged voters to remain present at polling stations throughout the day on February 12 and cast their votes in favor of the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ symbol to ensure victory.

Members of more than a hundred professional and social organizations -- such as Janakalyan Sangha, Van and Thella Sramik Union, Hotel and Truck Sramik Union, Building Construction Workers, Teachers’ Association, Railway Players’ Welfare Association, River Erosion Social Organization, SSC Batch ’84, Weavers’ Group, Auto Drivers’ Association, Barbers’ Association, Shop Owners’ Association, Tree Plantation Organization and the District Lawyers’ Association -- participated in the procession. 

Among others present at the program were - District BNP Joint General Secretary AKM Mominul Haque, Assistant Joint General Secretary ABM Faruk Siddiqui, Municipal BNP President Afzal Hossain, General Secretary Abdus Salam, District Jubo Dal Convener Anisur Rahman, District Mohila Dal President Jinnat Ferdous Ara, General Secretary Anjuman Ara, and senior BNP leaders.
