KHULNA, Feb 9, 2026 (BSS)- Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and Khulna-5 parliamentary candidate Golam Parwar today said the people of Bangladesh now aspire for a “new Bangladesh,” asserting that those who have repeatedly held power over the past 54 years have failed on the question of good governance, honesty, and morality.

“The people of Bangladesh want a new Bangladesh. This change means those who have harmed the state through corruption, extortion, partisan politics, and human rights violations can no longer be entrusted with running the country,” he told an election rally at Shironmoni KDA Market this afternoon.

Parwar accused previous ruling parties of politicizing the administration, looting state resources, transferring wealth abroad, and suppressing dissent.

“There is no justification to give another chance to those who have repeatedly failed in the test,” he said.

He pledged that if Jamaat comes to power, MPs and ministers will not exploit state privileges but will serve the people as “khadem” rather than rulers.

Highlighting his development record in the constituency, Parwar said, “I have previously contributed to build roads, schools, mosques, madrasas, and healthcare facilities. If elected again, I will work to eliminate waterlogging, build bridges, create employment for youth, expand technical education, and improve hospitals.”

On minority rights, he said religious freedom would be guaranteed under Jamaat’s leadership, citing communal harmony in Dumuria and Fultala as examples.

Chaired by Khanjahan Ali thana Jamaat Ameer Syed Hasan Mahmud Tito, the rally was also addressed by DUCSU GS SSM Farhad, National Citizen Party Leader Dr. Mahmuda Mitu, and Khulna District Jamaat Secretary Munshi Mizanur Rahman.

SSM Farhad in his address highlighted voter awareness and election integrity, recounting past incidents of intimidation and irregularities.

“This is a historic moment. If we fail, we will be accountable to future generations. Those who risked their lives in July will cast their votes on February 12,” he said.

He also stressed transparency through digital platform to track budgets and report misconduct.

Dr. Mahmuda Mitu, NCP South Region Joint Chief Coordinator, underscored the importance of ethical leadership and responsiveness to public needs.

“Experience alone is not enough to govern; moral character and understanding people’s problems are essential. Those who commit violence against women are unfit to run the state,” she said.
