CUMILLA, Feb 1, 2026 (BSS) - Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher has said an 11-party unity government is required to transform Bangladesh into a corruption-free state.
"People have repeatedly heard promises against corruption but have not seen them realize. The same party criticized for corruption is again assuring the nation of a corruption-free country," Dr Taher said.
He was speaking as the chief guest at an election rally in support of Jamaat-nominated candidate Yasin Arafat with the 'Daripalla' symbol in Cumilla-10 (Nangalkot-Lalmai) constituency this afternoon.
"Jamaat has already proven that governance is possible without corruption, as our ministers in the past set an example by serving with integrity," he said.
"Insha Allah, an 11-party unity government will be formed in the coming days. That government will be transparent and accountable. Our MPs and representatives will neither engage in corruption nor allow others to do so," he added.
Dr Taher said electing Yasin Arafat would change the overall scenario of Nangalkot and Lalmai upazilas. "He will ensure planned and equitable development," he added.
Addressing the rally Yasin Arafat, former central president of Islami Chhatra Shibir, said, "We want to establish politics of friendship and justice, not revenge. Our politics is based on people's trust and love."
Nangalkot Upazila Jamaat Ameer Maulana Jamal Uddin presided over the rally. Among others present were Jamaat central assistant secretary Maulana ATM Masum, Cumilla South district Jamaat Ameer Advocate Shahjahan, NCP joint member secretary Zainal Abedin Shishir, Jamaat leader Dr Delwar Hasan, Shibir central international affairs secretary Muhtasim Billah Shahedi, CIP NRB Golam Kabir Bhuiyan and Shibir Cumilla city president Hasan Ahmed, among others.
The event was conducted by Jamaat leader Aminul Haque Maola and Nangalkot Upazila Jamaat assistant secretary Maulana Yasin Mojumdar.
