DHAKA, Feb 9, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Chairman's Adviser and party's election steering committee spokesperson Dr Mahdi Amin today alleged that a particular political party is spreading propaganda against the BNP, anticipating the party's inevitable victory in the upcoming national parliamentary elections scheduled for February 12.
Dr Mahdi made the allegations while speaking at a press briefing held at the BNP Election Steering Committee office in Gulshan this afternoon.
He claimed that activists of the rival party have been visiting voters' homes, collecting their bKash numbers and national identity card (NID) details, and attempting to lure them with illegal financial offers and promises of "tickets to Jannat." However, he said voters have rejected such practices.
Rejecting allegations that the BNP maintains undue relations with the administration or is involved in election manipulation, Dr Mahdi described such claims as baseless and an attempt to create a rift between the BNP and the country's voters.
"We want to place our confidence, like the people of the country, in the neutrality and professionalism of all state agencies, the Election Commission, and election-related officials and employees of the interim government," he said, adding that spreading confusion on this issue is condemnable. He called on the concerned quarters to refrain from what he termed "evil activities."
Highlighting the BNP's role in women's empowerment, Dr Mahdi said the party has made unique contributions in this sector, noting that former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia is internationally recognized as a role model for women's empowerment.
In contrast, he alleged that BNP's rival party has been campaigning in an indecent manner on women's issues, accusing it of intending to curtail women's rights and freedoms, including reducing their working hours.
Dr Mahdi Amin said BNP has nominated the highest number of women candidates for parliamentary seats, while the rival party has failed to nominate a single woman candidate in the national elections.
