RANGPUR, Feb 9, 2026 (BSS) - The women's wing of Jamaat-e-Islami here today staged a large procession and election rally in support of Professor Mahbubur Rahman Belal, the 11-party alliance-backed candidate for the Rangpur-3 constituency in the upcoming Jatiya Sangsad elections.

The rally began at the Public Library grounds in the afternoon, with Professor Belal, also a member of Jamaat-e-Islami's Central Working Committee and the Rangpur-Dinajpur regional team, leading the march.

The procession moved through key areas of the city, including City Bazaar, Supermarket, Paira Chattar, Jahaz Company Intersection, Press Club, and Grand Hotel Intersection, before concluding at Shapla Square.

Among those who participated were Central President of the Forum of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (FDEB) Muhammad Abdus Sattar Shah and Rangpur Metropolitan Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary Anwarul Haque Kajal.

Addressing the rally, Professor Belal urged citizens not to be misled by what he described as false propaganda by vested interests concerning women's rights under a Jamaat-e-Islami-led government.

He said Jamaat-e-Islami would ensure women's rights, freedom, and dignity, adding that women would be encouraged to work according to their skills, qualifications, and abilities and contribute to national development alongside men.

Calling on voters to resist conspiracies and misinformation, he appealed for support for 11-party alliance-backed candidates nationwide, saying they stand against those who disrespect and abuse women.

Professor Belal also paid tribute to the sacrifices of youths and students during the historic July Uprising, which he said led to the fall of a fascist regime and the creation of a new Bangladesh.

"If voted to power, we will build a welfare-oriented Bangladesh free from discrimination, terrorism, extortion, and corruption, where women will play a major role in nation-building, Insha'Allah," he said.
