RANGPUR, Feb 9, 2026 (BSS) - Dozens of mass processions were held today in support of BNP candidate Md Shamsuzzaman Samu in the Rangpur Sadar-3 constituency, drawing large crowds and creating a festive atmosphere as the election campaign reached its final stage.
The processions, held in favor of the BNP's election symbol, the Sheaf of Paddy, covered 24 wards of Rangpur city and five unions of Rangpur Sadar upazila. The enthusiastic public response turned both urban wards and rural union areas into vibrant centers of campaign activity.
To ease traffic congestion and minimize public inconvenience in the city, BNP-nominated candidate Shamsuzzaman Samu decided not to organize rallies on the main streets of Rangpur metropolis. Instead, following his instructions, party leaders and activists organized separate processions in neighborhood wards and union areas of the Rangpur-3 (Rangpur Sadar and Rangpur City) constituency.
From Sunday afternoon onward, processions were held in 14 wards under Kotwali Police Station, three wards under Mahiganj Police Station, four wards under Tajhat Police Station, and three wards under Hazirhat Police Station in the city. Similar events were also organized in 45 wards of Saddyapuskorini, Chandanpat, Mominpur, Kholeya, and Haridebpur unions of Rangpur Sadar upazila.
Senior leaders of the Metropolitan BNP, Jubo Dal, and other affiliated organizations, along with activists and supporters at various levels, were present throughout the processions.
