KHULNA, Feb 9, 2026 (BSS) – BNP-nominated candidate for the Khulna-3 constituency and the party’s Central Student Affairs Secretary, Rokibul Islam Bakul, has pledged to take initiatives to restart closed mills and factories if elected in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

The Khulna-3 constituency, comprising Khalishpur, Daulatpur, Arangghata, and Khanjahan Ali areas, is considered one of the city’s most important industrial belts.

Speaking to journalists this afternoon before a procession in the Baikali area, Rokibul Islam Bakul expressed full confidence in his victory.

He said BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman had recently outlined plans for women’s development and announced the introduction of family cards for every household, along with assurances to reopen closed mills and factories. “These commitments have generated a positive response among voters in the Khalishpur industrial area, and they will vote for me considering these issues,” he added.

Bakul also said that the Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, and the Election Commission have assured a free and fair election. “We have full confidence in them and hope they will deliver a peaceful, credible, and acceptable election,” he said.

Regarding risky polling centres, he noted that law enforcement agencies have already identified them and will strengthen security. With administrative cooperation, he hoped the election in the constituency would be held smoothly.

He further said that promises made by BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman for improving people’s livelihoods would be implemented on a priority basis if BNP comes to power.

Seeking prayers and support from voters, Bakul urged all to go to polling centres on February 12 and cast their votes in favour of the party’s election symbol, the Sheaf of Paddy.

Meanwhile, as part of his campaign initiatives, free Wi-Fi zones have recently been set up at different points in the constituency.

On the other hand, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Mahfuzur Rahman brought out two large processions involving men and women. The significant participation of women in the processions has generated fresh discussion in the constituency.

Other candidates are also making various promises and adopting different strategies to attract voters.
