DHAKA, Feb 28, 2026 (BSS) - The government will take necessary measures to prevent any violation of policy guidelines in the selection and distribution of Family Cards.

An office order, signed by Deputy Secretary (Routine Charge) Md Mamun of the Field Administration Coordination Branch under the Cabinet Division, was issued in this regard and sent to all Deputy Commissioners and Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs).

According to the directive, the government has undertaken the issuance of Family Cards and Farmer Cards as a priority programme in line with its election manifesto, aiming to provide social protection to marginal and low-income families.

The order stated that the cards will be issued in favour of selected heads of families strictly in accordance with government-approved guidelines, without discrimination on the basis of religion, caste or creed.

It also clarified that the cards will be distributed entirely free of cost under the government initiative.

To ensure transparency and impartiality in selecting beneficiaries, guidelines for forming committees at ward, union and upazila levels have already been sent to the field administration, it added.

The order further instructed that the policy guidelines must be strictly followed during the selection and distribution process.

In case of any allegation of financial transaction or other irregularities, the authorities concerned have been asked to take appropriate legal action against those found responsible.
