DHAKA, Febr 28, 2026 (BSS) – Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad today warned of punitive actions against Hajj agencies if pilgrims under their management were found to be mistreated while performing the holy ritual.

“If any Hajj agency mistreat or cause hardship to pilgrims, they will have to face punishment and those providing quality and efficient services will be duly rewarded,” he said.

Kaikobad made the comments as he joined as the chief guest a discussion followed by an iftar gathering organised by Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAB) at the Police Convention Hall here this afternoon.

He said Hajj pilgrims are the guests of Allah and therefore they deserved the best possible services and treated with respect.

The minister described himself as a “khadim” or “servant”, adding in this capacity “I will continue to serve you for the pleasure of Allah - not for your approval”.

HAB President Syed Golam Sarwar chaired the discussion, joined by Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam as a special guest through virtual platform.

Religious affairs ministry’s acting secretary Md. Ayatul Islam and HAB Secretary General Farid Ahmed Mazumder also spoke at the event.
