
RANGAMATI, Feb 28, 2026 (BSS) - Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan today called for strict market monitoring to keep commodity prices stable during the holy month of Ramadan, urging BNP leaders and activists to cooperate fully with government oversight efforts.
He made the remarks while addressing an Iftar Mahfil organized by the BNP's Rangamati district unit at Rangamati Gymnasium. Dipen said BNP would always stand by the common people to ensure that residents of Rangamati can observe their respective religious festivals peacefully and joyfully.
The minister directed the three hill district councils and district administrations in the Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) to maintain strict vigilance so that no unscrupulous traders can create artificial shortages or inflate prices during Ramadan, causing hardship to the public.
Describing Ramadan as a month of restraint and self-discipline, he urged BNP leaders and activists at all levels to remain alert in maintaining stability and communal harmony in Rangamati throughout the month.
Dipen also called on party leaders and workers to act as vigilant guardians in ensuring that people of all religions, castes and opinions can celebrate their festivals without disruption.
Special prayers were offered at the event seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, and for the welfare of the people of the country and the world.
Among others, Rangamati District Council Chairman Krishibid Kajal Talukder, former deputy minister Moni Swapan Dewan, the Superintendent of Police, a former secretary of the CHT Land Commission, senior government officials, leaders of various political parties and media personnel attended the Iftar Mahfil, which was chaired by BNP district unit President Dipan Talukder Dipur.
