Zero tolerance against terror, drugs, juvenile gangs: Amit

JASHORE, Feb 28, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit today said the BNP election manifesto has pledged a zero tolerance policy against terrorism, drugs and juvenile gangs.

Speaking as the chief guest at an exchange meeting with district administration and police officials at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room, he said the Prime Minister has directed that no leniency will be shown against terrorists or drug offenders. 

"I firmly believe that everyone in Jashore district is committed to making it free from terrorism, drugs and teen gangs. Cooperation from all is essential," he added.

The State Minister said a list of individuals supporting drug traffickers and terrorists will be prepared, and authorities will engage in dialogue with them.

Addressing the officials, he said, "Work with confidence and an open mind for the welfare of the people. Trust the government. The government will support you in every way."
 
"During the previous interim government's period, you wanted to work but could not. Now it is time to implement the current government's commitment to ensure overall public welfare," he added.

The meeting was presided over by Jashore Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ashek Hasan. 

Superintendent of Police Syed Rafiqul Islam, Deputy Director of Local Government, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Additional District Magistrate, Additional Superintendent of Police, Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Assistant Commissioners (Land), other Assistant Commissioners and in-charge officers of various police stations were also present there, among others.

In the afternoon, the State Minister attended a cheque distribution ceremony organised by the Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust, providing welfare grants and education scholarships.

During the event, he distributed cheques worth Taka 27 lakh among 20 media personnel from Jashore, Magura, Narail and Kushtia districts. 

Managing Director of the Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust, Muhammad Abdullah was present there as special guest.
