All institutions must work sincerely for development of CHT: Dipen Dewan

RANGAMATI, Mar 01, 2026 (BSS) - Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Dipen Dewan today called upon all institutions to work sincerely for the development of the hill region prioritizing the government's 180-day action plan.

"No form of discrimination should be allowed in the development of the hill region," he said while speaking at a views-exchange meeting with the officials of various departments at the Deputy Commissioner's office here this morning. 

The meeting was organized by the Rangamati District Administration that was chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Najma Afreen. 

Among others, Chairman of the CHT Development Board Major General (Rtd) Anup Kumar Chakma, Rangamati Region Commander of Army Brigadier General Mohammad Nazmul Haque; Deputy Secretary of the ministry Kankan Chakma, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Abdur Rakib, Vice Chairman of the CHT Development Board Sheikh Saleh Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of the District Council Khandaker Muhammad Rizaul Karim and Rangamati Poura Administrator Md. Mobarak Hossain, addressed the meeting.

The CHT Affairs Minister urged to ensure balanced distribution of development benefits across all communities and sectors on priority basis. 

He also emphasized the need for all institutions to play a responsible role in maintaining communal harmony in the hills.

During the meeting, officials from various government departments of Rangamati district presented updates on their respective activities, challenges and other relevant information to the minister.
