Prosecution pleads for indicting Qamrul, Menon in crimes against humanity case

DHAKA, March 02, 2026 (BSS) – The prosecution at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 today pleaded for framing charges  in a case filed against former ministers Rashed Khan Menon and Advocate Qamrul Islam over alleged crimes against humanity during the July Mass Uprising.

Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam took part in the hearing today.

At the end of today’s proceedings, the two-member ICT-1, headed by Justice Golam Mortuza Majumder, adjourned the hearing till March 11. The tribunal passed the order, allowing a time plea filed by the defence counsel Mansurul Haque Chowdhury.  

The defence is scheduled to move their discharge petition on that day.

The prosecution filed the formal charge in the case on February 3, 2026, which was later taken into cognisance by the tribunal.
