DHAKA, March 2, 2026 (BSS) - Posts, Telecommunications and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam today said the Directorate of Posts will work with priority to ensure government services reach the doorsteps of the people.

"The achievements and capabilities of the Postal Department must be highlighted before the people. As part of a people-friendly government, the directorate will play a vital role in delivering services to citizens at their doorsteps," he said.

The minister was addressing an introductory and views-exchange meeting with officials of the Directorate of Posts at the Dak Bhaban conference room in the capital's Agargaon area.

He said the Directorate of Posts is no longer confined to traditional mail delivery; rather, it has evolved into a modern and multifaceted service network.

By successfully delivering postal ballots, the Directorate has demonstrated its efficiency, sense of responsibility and institutional capacity, he added.

Anam further said the extensive nationwide network of post offices and large workforce can be utilized more effectively to deliver modern and reliable services to grassroots levels.

To achieve this, he emphasized the need for timely reforms, modernization and technology-driven initiatives.

Speaking as special guest, secretary of the Posts and Telecommunications Division Abdun Naser Khan said the Bangladesh Post Office has successfully ensured prompt and reliable services even in remote areas of the country.

The department's role in distributing electoral ballots and handling emergency operations is commendable, he added.

He also said initiatives have been taken to introduce modern technology, address management systems, training for officials, and modernization of outdated laws and ordinances.

Director General (DG) of the Directorate of Posts Kazi Asadul Islam chaired the meeting, which was attended by officials and employees of the directorate.
