DMP files 1,061 cases against traffic rule violations

DHAKA, March 2, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan 
Police (DMP) has filed 1,061 cases against motor vehicles for violating 
traffic rules in a single day across the capital.

A media release of the DMP today said that they filed those cases and 
realized the money on Sunday (March 01) through their regular drives 
against the traffic rule breakers.

A total of 497 motor vehicles were dumped and 234 vehicles were towed due to 
poor driving practices, said Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (Media and 
Public Relations Division) of the DMP.

Of the cases, Ramna division filed 109 while Lalbagh division registered 68, 
Motijheel traffic division filed 85, Wari division registered 145, Tejgaon 
division filed 83, Mirpur division filed 112, Uttara division registered 284 
and Gulshan division filed 175 against motor vehicles as well as three 
wheelers and motorcycles, the release added.

"The drives will continue to ensure discipline on the city streets," it said, 
adding that the DMP has been working to bring the traffic 
system under smooth in the capital for giving city dwellers easy movement.
