Family Card reflects BNP’s commitment to women’s empowerment: Barrister Helal

CHATTOGRAM, Mar 02, 2026 (BSS)- BNP’s decision to handing over family card to a women as the chief of a family is reflection of the party’s commitment to women empowerment.

State Minister for CHT Affairs Barrister Mir Md Helal Uddin said this at a function here today.

Department of Women Affairs and Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Office arranged the function to hand over prize giving ceremony titled “Adommya Nari” at District Shilpakola Academy auditorium here today.
 
He said a country’s real progress can never be achieved keeping the women backward economically.

“We must put proper importance on turning the women, who are half of total population, into human resources and involve them in either conventional or non-conventional economic activities to attain sustainable progress” he said.

Barrister Helal handed over crest of honor to four successful and women who earned outstanding success in various fields through hardship. 

Barrister Helal said special importance has been given to the empowerment of women in light of the BNP’s 31-point agenda.

Begum Khaleda Zia’s government had introduced free education for girls and established the ministry of children and family welfare, he said adding that BNP always worked for development and elevate the status of women.

Barrister Helal said about four crore women are still out of mainstream economic activities. Positive change in the country’s economic landscape is possible if we can bring them under production cycle, he said.

“Women rights are not a mercy or kindness to them rather it is their constitutional rights” the state minister pointed out.
 
Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md Zia Uddin presided over the function. Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Zahidul Islam Meah and Additional DIG of Police (admin) Chattogram Range Md Nazmul Haque among others were present.
