Govt appoints Munshi Alauddin Al Azad as religious affairs secretary

DHAKA, Mar 02, 2026 (BSS) – The government has appointed former joint secretary Munshi Alauddin Al Azad as Religious Affairs Secretary on a contractual basis. 

The Public Administration Ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard here yesterday.

According to the notification, Alauddin Al Azad has been appointed under Section 49 of the Government Service Act, 2018, on the condition that he relinquishes any other professional, business or employment ties with government, semi-government or private institutions or organisations.

His contractual appointment will be effective for one year from the date of joining.

Other terms and conditions of the appointment will be determined by the contract agreement, the notification added.

The order, issued in the sake of public interest, takes immediate effect.
