DHAKA, March 19, 2026 (BSS) – President Mohammed Shahabuddin today greeted the countrymen on the eve of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

In a message, the President said the lessons of holy Eid-ul-Fitr would bring new enthusiasm and inspiration to all in the journey of building a new Bangladesh.

“The significance of Eid-ul-Fitr is immense in establishing a peaceful, harmonious and prosperous state,” he said, adding that an auspicious beginning of a discrimination-free, humane and democratic Bangladesh has taken place through immense sacrifice, endurance and selflessness.

“We are moving forward on the journey to build a just, prosperous and self-reliant Bangladesh,” he said.

Describing Eid-ul-Fitr as the greatest religious festival of the Muslims, the President said the festival arrives with immense joy and happiness after a month-long fasting.

In his message, he said Muslims strive to acquire moral values and attain salvation in the hereafter by refraining from injustice, oppression and sinful acts through month-long fasting.

He also said the rich and the poor stand in the same row and share the happiness of Eid alike.
