DHAKA, April 8, 2026 (BSS) - The by-election for Bogura-6 and the general election for Sherpur-3 constituencies of the 13th national parliament will be held tomorrow.

According to the schedule announced by the Election Commission, voting in both constituencies will take place through ballot papers in transparent ballot boxes from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm without interruption.

Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed of the EC Secretariat said today that all preparations for the elections have been completed and the overall situation is satisfactory.

About Bogura-6 by-election, Returning Officer Md. Fazlul Karim told BSS that three candidates are contesting the by-election.

He said Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidate Md. Rezaul Karim Badsha is contesting with the sheaf of paddy symbol, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Md. Abidur Rahman with the Daripalla symbol and a Bangladesh Development Party candidate with the cauliflower symbol.

The constituency has 150 polling stations and 835 polling booths with a total of 4,50,309 registered voters.

In the February 12 elections, BNP Chairman and current Prime Minister Tarique Rahman won this seat but vacated it, retaining Dhaka-17, prompting the EC to declare Bogura-6 vacant and schedule the by-election.

About Sherpur-3 general election, Returning Officer Mohammad Jahangir Hossain told BSS that three candidates are contesting the election.

He said BNP candidate Md. Mahmudul Haque Rubel is contesting with the sheaf of paddy symbol, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Md. Masudur Rahman with the Daripalla symbol and a Bangladesh Socialist Party (Marxist) candidate with the scissors symbol.

The constituency has 128 polling stations and 751 polling booths with 4,09,806 registered voters.

During the February 12 elections, the Jamaat-e-Islami candidate in Sherpur-3 passed away, leading the EC to cancel the election and later announce a new schedule.
