Rain, thunder showers likely across parts of country

DHAKA, May 4, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecast rain or thunder showers in different parts of the country over the next 24 hours, commencing from 9:00 am.

A Met office bulletin issued this morning said: "Light to moderate rain or thunder showers, accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds and lightning flashes, are likely to occur at a few places over Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and at one or two places over Rangpur and Barishal divisions."

The bulletin added that moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may occur at places over Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

According to the Met office, a trough of low pressure persists from West Bengal to the North Bay.

Day temperatures may rise slightly, while night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged across the country.

In Dhaka, the sun will set at 6:25 pm today and rise at 5:22 am tomorrow.

The highest temperature on Sunday was recorded at 34.5 degrees Celsius in Khulna, while today's minimum temperature was 19.5 degrees Celsius in Dimla, Rangpur and Sylhet.
