Chinese delegation meets DU VC

DHAKA, May 7, 2026 (BSS) - A 12-member delegation led by Prof. Chen Dongxiao, 
President of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), China 
called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul 
Islam today.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam presided 
over the meeting.

Other team members were Prof. Duan Xingwu, Vice President of Yunnan 
University, Prof. Fan Daqi, Vice President of the Academy of Contemporary 
China and World Studies, Prof. Lv Peiming, Vice President of Tongji 
University, Prof. Wu Jian, Vice President of East China Normal University and 
some others officials from different universities in China.

Later, the Chinese delegation members attended the plenary meeting of the 
Academic Board of the Centre for China Studies of Dhaka University at VC's 
meeting room. 

Pro-Vice Chancellor (academic) of DU Prof. Abdus Salam, Vice-Chancellor of 
Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Prof. A.M. Sarwaruddin 
Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of Noakhali University of Science and Technology 
Prof. Mohammad Ismail, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liberal Arts 
Prof. Shamsad Mortuza and Director of the Office of International Affairs of 
DU Prof. Syeda Rozana Rashid were present on this occasion.

During the meeting DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam 
expressed his willingness to work with Chinese universities to expand 
academic and research collaboration as well as create more learning 
opportunities for youth.
 
He stressed the need for strengthening ongoing joint collaborative academic 
and research programs, faculty and students exchanges programs, training 
programs and more collaborative initiatives among Dhaka University and 
different Chinese universities.
