Tarique Siddiqui’s driver, caretaker remanded again

DHAKA, May 8, 2026 (BSS) – Mahidul Islam and Chan Mia, driver and caretaker of ex-PM Sheikh Hasina’s military adviser Major General (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddiqui, were placed on a 3-day remand afresh in a case filed under anti-terrorism act.  

Metropolitan Magistrate Ripon Hossain gave the order while the investigation officer sought seven days remand after producing them before the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court after concluding a three-day remand.

On April 19, police arrested driver Mahidul Islam (42) from Thakurgaon and caretaker Chan Mia (46) from Bhasantek area in the city.

Metropolitan Magistrate Manjurul Islam granted 3-day remand each on May 5.

According to the case, the accused along with other members of banned Chattra League, student wing of banned Awami League, and its associate bodies participated in a procession in front of Rupayan tower under Ramna police station in the city on September 12, 2025.

The police have filed a case against them under anti-terrorism act with Ramna Police station on the same day.
