Measles: 11 die, 54 new cases reported in 24 hours

DHAKA, May 22, 2026 (BSS)- A total of 11 more deaths of children were reported due to measles and its symptoms during the last 24 hours while 54 new confirmed measles cases were reported across the country.
 
Of the latest fatalities, two were confirmed cases of measles, while the remaining nine died with symptoms of the disease, according to the daily measles bulletin by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the meantime, 1,261 suspected measles patients were admitted to different hospitals, the DGHS report said today.

Since March 15 to date, a total of 47,511 suspected measles patients have been admitted to different hospitals throughout the country.
 
Among the suspected cases, 43,411 patients have recovered and left hospitals, so far.

With the new two death cases and nine suspected measles deaths, the total number of measles deaths stands at 85 from confirmed measles and 414 from suspected measles.
