TANGAIL, May 31, 2026 (BSS) - A man was killed and another injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a motorcycle in Bhuapur upazila of the district this afternoon.
 
The deceased was identified as Suruj Akand, 45, son of Kalu Akand of West Bhuapur village of the upazila. The injured motorcycle rider, Alam, is currently receiving treatment at Bhuapur Upazila Health Complex.
 
According to police and eyewitnesses, Suruj Akand and Alam were returning home from Bhuapur Bazar on a motorcycle around 1:00 pm. When they reached the West Bhuapur New Bypass Road, their motorcycle collided head-on with a passenger bus travelling to Tarakandi from Dhaka.
 
Suruj Akand died on the spot, while Alam sustained injuries.
 
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhuapur police Station Sabbir Rahman confirmed the matter and said police recovered the body and brought it to the police station. The body will be handed over to the victim's family after necessary legal procedures.
