Two more children die of measles-like symptoms

DHAKA, May 31, 2026 (BSS) - Two more children died of measles-like symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours.

During the same period, the total number of reported cases reached 1,377, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today. 

A total of 1,324 suspected measles cases were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of suspected cases recorded to 70,936 since March 15. 

During the last 24-hour, 53 cases were confirmed as measles, raising the total number of confirmed cases since March 15 to 9,049.

Since March 15, a total of 56,886 patients with suspected measles were admitted to hospitals, while 52,841 patients recovered and were discharged. 

No deaths from confirmed measles were reported in the last 24 hours. Since March 15, the total number of deaths from confirmed measles remained 88. 

Two deaths among suspected measles cases were reported during the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths among suspected cases to 495 since March 15.

So far, the highest number of suspected measles cases has been recorded in Dhaka division, where 33,470 people have been reported with suspected infection. Of these, 6,306 cases have been confirmed as measles.
