DMP files 3,918 cases for traffic rule violations

DHAKA, June 27, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 3,918 cases against motor vehicles, owners and its drivers for violating traffic rules across the capital.

A media release of the DMP today said that they filed those cases on Thursday and Friday (June 25 and 26) through their regular drives against the traffic rule breakers in different areas of the capital.

Of the cases, Tejgaon division filed 277 while Mirpur division registered 795, Uttara division filed 692 and Gulshan division filed 322 cases, it added.

A total of 755 motor vehicles were dumped and 488 were towed due to poor driving practices, said NM Nasiruddin, deputy commissioner (Media and Public Relations Division) of the DMP.

"The drives will continue to ensure discipline on the city streets," the release said, adding that the DMP has been working to ensure smooth traffic system in the capital and ease movement of the city dwellers.
