Nature Index Ranking: JU secures top nat'l position in Chemistry

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, June 2, 2026 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University (JU) 
has secured the top position among Bangladeshi universities and research 
institutions in the field of Chemistry in the latest Nature Index Ranking, 
underscoring its growing contribution to high-quality international research.

The ranking was published based on research articles released between 
February 2025 and January 2026. Nature Index compiles data from research 
papers published in 145 leading international journals in the fields of 
Natural Sciences and Health Sciences and is widely recognized as a global 
benchmark for assessing research excellence and impact.

According to the latest ranking, JU's Department of Chemistry achieved the 
highest position in Bangladesh in the Chemistry category, reflecting the 
department's sustained efforts in producing internationally recognized 
research and strengthening academic collaboration.

On the achievement, Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university Professor Dr. 
Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan today congratulated the teachers, researchers and 
students of the Department of Chemistry.

In a congratulatory message, he said the recognition was the result of the 
department's relentless dedication, hard work and commitment to maintaining 
international standards in research.

"The achievement is a matter of pride for the entire Jahangirnagar University 
family. It demonstrates the quality of research being conducted by our 
faculty members and researchers and highlights the university's growing 
presence in the global academic community," the VC said.

He expressed hope that the department would continue its research excellence 
and contribute further to scientific innovation and knowledge generation in 
the coming years.

Besides its top position in Chemistry, JU also secured the 16th position 
nationally in Biological Sciences, 11th in Earth and Environmental Sciences, 
and 18th in Health Sciences in the same Nature Index Ranking.

The latest performance reflects the university's continued efforts to enhance 
research capacity and increase its visibility in international scientific 
publications.
