Probe committee submits report on six newborns' deaths

DHAKA, June 3, 2026 (BSS) - The committee formed to investigate the deaths of six newborns at Ad-Din Medical College Hospital in the capital's Moghbazar area has submitted its report to Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain.

According to a press release, a separate committee formed by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) will submit its report tomorrow.

The health minister is expected to brief the media at 4 pm on the same day.

Earlier, six newborns died in the post-delivery ward of Ad-Din Medical College Hospital in the early hours of May 27. Three separate investigation committees were formed to determine the cause of the incident.

Immediately after the incident, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare formed a three-member high-level investigation committee, while the Directorate General of Health Services constituted another three-member committee.

In addition, the Ad-Din Hospital authorities formed an internal investigation committee to examine whether there had been any lapses or negligence. The committee has already submitted its report to the ministry.
