Two friends killed in Feni accident

FENI, June 4, 2026 (BSS) - Two friends riding a motorcycle were killed when a truck hit the motorcycle on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway at Gopal union in Chhagalnaiya Upazila of the district around 9:00 am today.

The deceased were identified as Jihanul Islam Shawon, 20, and Iqbal Hossain Jisan, 23.

Police sources said the two had traveled as a group to visit Guliakhali in Chattogram and were killed in the road accident while returning home. 

Jisan died on the spot, while Shawon was taken in critical condition to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors later declared him dead.

Iqbal Hossain Jisan was the son of Abu Toyeb and a resident of Doctor Bari in Sampur village under Mongolkandi Union of Sonagazi Upazila. 

Jihanul Islam Shawon was the only son of Kamrul Hasan Rasul from Patwari Bari in Gobindapur village under Kalidah Union of Feni Sadar Upazila. He worked as an accountant at a private firm in Feni town.

Rashed Khan Chowdhury, Officer-in-Charge of Fazilpur Highway Police Station, confirmed the deaths and said that both the motorcycle and the truck were taken into police custody. Traffic on the highway remained normal following the accident.

According to family sources, Jisan was buried in the family graveyard in Sampur village, Sonagazi, after funeral prayers held in the afternoon. Preparations were underway to bury Shawon in the family graveyard in Gobindapur village following funeral prayers scheduled for 9pm.
