
DHAKA, June 4, 2026 (BSS) - A high-level bilateral meeting was held today between the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and the Attorney General’s Office aimed at expediting the disposal of pending cases and strengthening inter-institutional coordination for the faster legal resolution.
The meeting took place at the ministry’s conference room with Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan in the chair, an official release said here today.
Attorney General Barrister Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal led the delegation from the Attorney General’s Office, which included Deputy Attorney Generals and Assistant Attorney Generals. Senior officials of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, including Secretary Md Ashraful Islam, also attended the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan said that irregularities and complications had emerged in the past regarding various lists and related activities concerning Freedom Fighters, which are now being addressed through a coordinated approach.
“Our goal is to ensure the dignity of genuine Freedom Fighters through a transparent, accurate and acceptable process, while also reducing the long-standing case backlog. Cooperation from the Attorney General’s Office is very important in this regard,” he said.
Attorney General Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal said that the large number of pending cases across various departments and ministries is putting additional pressure on the justice system. He noted that several complex legal issues related to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs have also remained unresolved for a long time and require prompt disposal.
