Ramisa's father demands quick execution of verdict

DHAKA, June 7, 2026 (BSS) - Abdul Hannan Mollah, father of eight-year-old Ramisa Akter, who was raped and murdered in the capital's Pallabi area last month, has expressed satisfaction over the verdict delivered by a special tribunal here this morning.

"We have received the verdict we expected. We want its quick execution," said the bereaved father.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Children's Violence Suppression Tribunal delivered the verdict this morning, sentencing Sohel Rana and his wife Swapna Akter to death and fining them Taka five lakh and two lakh respectively.

Speaking to journalists at the court premises afterwards, Abdul Hannan Mollah, also the plaintiff in the case, expressed gratitude to the judge, police administration, journalists, and all those who stood by him and his family during their difficult time.

"We have received the expected verdict. This judgment will fulfil our hopes and aspirations. I'm 100 percent satisfied. We have received the desired verdict within the time given by the Prime Minister," he said.
