DHAKA, June 8, 2026 (BSS) - Professor Dr Mohammad Hanif (Murad) of the Department of Applied Mathematics at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) has been appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Lakshmipur Science and Technology University (LSTU).

The appointment was announced in a notification issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education.

Before his appointment, Prof Hanif served as the Treasurer of NSTU.

According to the notification, he was appointed under Section 10(1) of the Lakshmipur Science and Technology University Act, 2023.

His tenure as vice-chancellor will be four years from the date of joining the office. However, if he reaches the age of retirement before the completion of the tenure, his term will expire on the date of retirement.

Under the terms of the appointment, he will receive salary, allowances and other benefits equivalent to those of his current position in accordance with the existing rules.
