Rain likely across country; monsoon may cover remaining areas in 2-3 days

DHAKA, June 11, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecast rain and thunderstorms in different parts of the country during the next 24 hours beginning from 9am.

According to a Met Office bulletin issued this morning, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes are likely at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Khulna and Barishal divisions.

Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may also occur at places across the country, the bulletin said.

The BMD said the southwest monsoon has advanced up to Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet, Mymensingh and Rangpur divisions. Conditions are favourable for further advancement of the monsoon to the remaining parts of Bangladesh over the next two to three days.

Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged, while night temperature may rise slightly across the country.

The highest temperature recorded on Wednesday was 35.2 degrees Celsius in Patuakhali, while today's minimum temperature was 21.6 degrees Celsius in Tangail.
