CHITTAGONG UNIVERSITY, June 11, 2026 (BSS) - A new 10-coach shuttle train was inaugurated at Chittagong University (CU) today, replacing one of the university's old trains.

CU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al-Forkan inaugurated the train at Battali Railway Station in Chattogram at 7:30 am.

Speaking on the occasion, the VC said the new train would improve transportation facilities for students and replace a long-serving train.

CUCSU Vice-President Ibrahim Hossain Roni welcomed the addition, saying students would benefit from the upgraded coaches. He also reiterated the demand for another shuttle train to meet growing student needs.

University officials and railway authorities, including Pro-VCs, Chattogram DRM Mostafizur Rahman Bhuiyan, and student representatives, attended the inauguration ceremony.

The shuttle train service at University of Chittagong was introduced in 1979 during the tenure of former President Ziaur Rahman.
