Swechhasebak Dal demands justice for slain leader in city

DHAKA, June 19, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Swechhasebak Dal today staged a protest march in the capital, demanding justice for the murder of Billal Hossain Talukdar, former convener of the organisation's Ramna Thana unit.

The march began at 4:30 pm in front of the BNP central office at Naya Paltan and proceeded through Kakrail and Paltan intersections before ending at the National Press Club.

The procession was led by Dhaka Metropolitan Swechhasebak Dal General Secretary Sad Morshed Pappa Shikder. Leaders and activists from different metropolitan units joined the programme, calling for the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of those responsible for the killing.

Billal Talukdar was fatally stabbed by unidentified assailants in front of Anarkali Market in the Mouchak area around 8:00 pm on June 8.

In connection with the incident, victim's wife Ambia Khatun filed a murder case with Ramna Police Station, naming 21 individuals as accused. Police have already arrested several of those named in the case.
