Police arrest four with weapons, drugs

DHAKA, June 19, 2026 (BSS) - Police have arrested an alleged top terrorist 
Ismail Hossain Sajal alias Auto Sajal, 31, and his three cohorts with weapons 
and drugs from Sayedabad area in the capital.

The other arrested are Md Bappi (28), Md Hanif (40) and Shamsunnahar (45).

"A team of the Jatrabari Police Station conducted a raid at Sayedabad on 
Thursday (June 18) at about 9:10 pm and arrested alleged terrorist Ismail 
Hossain alias Auto Sajal," said a press release issued by the Dhaka 
Metropolitan Police (DMP) media division here today.

About 11 previous cases were pending against Sajal in various police stations 
of the DMP, it added.

According to Jatrabari Police Station, the police tea, conducted a raid at a 
house in Swamibag area of Gendaria Police Station under Wari Division and 
arrested the trio associates of Auto Sajal and recovered two 'Taurus' brand 
pistols, four magazines and 77 rounds of live bullets, 59 grams of heroin and 
87 grams of 'Medi' used in preparation of heroin.

In addition, earlier on March 2, three or four unidentified miscreants shot 
an inspector of the Narcotics Control Department while conducting a special 
operation to recover drugs and arrest criminals. 

Later, a case was registered with Wari Police Station in this connection.

Besides, separate cases under the Arms and Narcotics Control Act were filed 
against the arrested persons and further legal action was under process, 
police said.
