Coast Guard seizes huge sugar evading custom duty

CHATTOGRAM, June 19, 2026 (BSS)- Bangladesh Coast Guard has confiscated a truck loaded with 800 kg of sugar which allegedly came out of the port without required customs clearance to evade duty .

Two individuals involved in the smuggling were arrested during the morning drive, officials said.

According to Coast Guard, a fraudulent group was planning to transport the sugar after illegally unloading from a commercial vessel.

Acting on a tip off, a coast guard team inspected the truck with 800 kg of sugar, said Sumon Al Mukit, media officer of the coast guard.
