RAJSHAHI, June 19, 2026 (BSS) - The Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) and the district administration on Thursday conducted a joint drive to remove illegal establishments from footpaths and roads in the city to ease traffic congestion and ensure safe pedestrian movement.

The drive started from Laxmipur intersection and ended at Bornali intersection, covering several important roads.

During the operation, illegal shops occupying footpaths and road spaces were removed, while action was taken against vehicles parked illegally.

Officials said footpath encroachment had been causing inconvenience to pedestrians and contributing to traffic congestion. The drive was conducted to restore normal movement and improve the city environment.

The operation was led by Rajshahi district administration Executive Magistrate Jafar Ahmed and RCC Executive Magistrate Nazmul Alam.

Nazmul Alam said the drive would continue regularly in different parts of the city to keep footpaths and roads free from illegal occupation. He urged people to cooperate with the authorities.

Police, RAB members and officials from the district administration and RCC were present during the drive.

City residents welcomed the initiative, hoping regular operations would help maintain order and ensure safer movement for pedestrians.
