Rain likely in parts of country

DHAKA, June 17, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecast rain in different parts of the country in the next 24 hours commencing from 9am.

According to a Met office bulletin issued this morning, "light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes are likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions."

Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may occur at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, it added.

Meanwhile, a mild heatwave is sweeping over Khulna division and the districts of Manikganj, Nilphamari and Rajshahi, and it may continue.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across the country.

The highest temperature recorded on Tuesday was 36.8 degrees Celsius in Jashore, while today's lowest temperature was recorded at 22.5 degrees Celsius in Narsingdi.

The sun will set at 6:48pm today and rise at 5:11am tomorrow in Dhaka.
