Rainfall likely to continue across country over next 5 days

DHAKA, June 19, 2026 (BSS) - Rainfall is likely to continue across the country over the next five days as the monsoon remains fairly active over Bangladesh, according to the latest weather forecast issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The Met Office said a trough extending from Gangetic West Bengal to the Northwest Bay persists, while the monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate elsewhere over the North Bay.

On the first day of the forecast period, light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning flashes are likely at many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places in Rajshahi division. 

Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may occur at places across the country.

Day and night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged on Friday.

The highest temperature on Thursday was recorded at 36.2 degrees Celsius in Satkhira under Khulna division, while today's minimum temperature was recorded at 22.2 degrees Celsius in Gopalgonj under Dhaka division. 

The sun sets at 6:48 pm today and rises at 5:12 am tomorrow in Dhaka. 

On June 20, rain or thunder showers with temporary gusty winds and lightning flashes are likely at many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places in Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions. Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may occur at places across the country.

On June 21, similar weather conditions are expected, with rainfall likely at many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna and Barishal divisions. Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may continue at places over the country.

According to the forecast, rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning flashes are likely at many places in Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions on June 22 and at a few places in Rajshahi and Khulna divisions. Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may occur at places across the country.

On June 23, rainfall activity is expected at many places in Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places in Rajshahi, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions, with moderately heavy to heavy rainfall likely at places across the country.

The BMD outlook for the next five days indicates that rainfall activity is likely to continue across the country as the monsoon remains active.
