Seven more children die of measles-like symptoms

DHAKA, June 20, 2026 (BSS) - Seven more children have died from suspected measles across the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

During the same period, 887 new measles cases were reported nationwide, while 80 confirmed children were admitted to hospitals, a DGHS press release said today.

The release added that 807 new suspected measles cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of suspected cases to 91,789 since March 15.

A total of 75,902 suspected measles patients have so far been admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 71,970 have recovered and been discharged after receiving treatment.

The DGHS data showed that no death from confirmed measles was reported during the past 24 hours. However, the total number of confirmed measles-related deaths since March 15 stands at 93.

Since March 15, a total of 584 children have died from suspected measles across the country, the release added.
