Over 65,000 schools participate in Primary School Gold Cup Tournament: Mahdi Amin

DHAKA, June 20, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Minister's Adviser and Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office Mahdi Amin today said more than 65,000 schools and 2.2 million students participated in the Primary School Gold Cup Tournament. 

He made the remarks while speaking as the special guest after the tournament's final match at the Army Stadium in the capital.

Mahdi Amin said, "the competition involved around 11 lakh boys and 11 lakh girls and featured more than 123,000 matches across the country. Perhaps we have organised the largest football tournament in the world. A total of over 123,000 matches were played."

He said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman envisions an education system that enables students to develop and showcase their talents while nurturing moral values and responsible citizenship.

The adviser said the government would continue to provide support and patronage to help young talents realise their full potential.

"Today's victory belongs not only to the champions but also to all 2.2 million students who took part in the tournament," he said.

Mahdi Amin said, "These young players are the future architects of a better Bangladesh. The government will continue to support them and stand by them, Insha'Allah."
