Land Minister calls for future leadership, patriotism

RAJSHAHI, June 20, 2026 (BSS) - Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu today urged students to prepare themselves to lead Bangladesh on the world stage in the days ahead.

"Study more, learn more, set the right goals, and reach the ultimate peak of success," he said.

The minister made the call as the chief guest this afternoon at an event honoring students who achieved GPA-5 in the HSC exams, held at Dr Kaysar Rahman Auditorium of Rajshahi Medical College.

The programme, organized by Bishwabidyalay Porikroma with support from the Department of Narcotics Control, included a discussion on education and cultural development, drug control, and social development.

The Land Minister said, "A nation that does not know how to honour its talented individuals can never reach its desired goals. Today's talented students will grow into the confident and dignified citizens of tomorrow and devote themselves to the welfare of the country."

He emphasized the importance of acquiring morality, honesty, and dedication alongside academic studies.

Recalling his past experience in developing Rajshahi as a 'Green and Clean City,' the Land Minister noted that the London School of Economics once recognized Rajshahi as one of the most livable cities in the world.

Saidur Rahman Khan, Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, attended as the keynote speaker.

Harun Ar Rashid, Chief Editor of Bishwabidyalay Porikroma, presided over the programme.

Special guests who spoke included Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milan, MP, Professor Dr. M. Sayedur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of North Bengal International University; Abul Kalam Azad Sweet, Chairman of the Rajshahi Development Authority and Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam, Zila Parishad Administrator Advocate Ershad Ali Isha, Principal of Rajshahi Medical College Dr Khandaker Foysal Alam, Principal of Rajshahi College Prof Ibrahim Ali.

At the end of the programme, the minister handed over crests and certificates to 700 talented students from the HSC-2025 batch who achieved GPA-5.
