Barrister Abdus Salam appointed Bangladesh Red Crescent Chairman

DHAKA, June 20, 2026 (BSS) - The government has Barrister Md Abdus Salam, an advocate of the Bangladesh Supreme Court, as the Chairman of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society for the next three years. 

The appointment was announced through a notification issued today by the Private Health Management-2 Branch of the Health Services Division under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

In a separate notification, the government also constituted a 14-member ad hoc managing board to oversee the organisation's administrative affairs.

According to the notification, Prof Dr Md Rafiqul Kabir has been appointed vice-chairman of the board, while Dr Abu Md Mofakkharul Islam (Rana) has been nominated as treasurer.

The other 12 members of the board are Prof Dr Syed Moinul Hasan Sadiq, Prof Dr Md Shahidur Rahman, Faruk Uddin Bhuiyan, Rafiqul Islam Sikder (Rafiq Sikder), Dr Kabiruzzaman, ABM Zakaria, Dr Shah Mohammad Sarwar Alam, Dr Jamil Ahmed, Kazi Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, Rezaur Rahman Chowdhury, Prof Dr Sheikh Touhidul Islam and SM Mahidul Islam Sajeeb.
