DMP files 2,160 cases against traffic rule violations

DHAKA, June 25, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan 
Police (DMP) has filed 2,160 cases against motor vehicles, owners and its 
drivers for violating traffic rules in a single day across the capital.

A media release of the DMP today said that they filed those cases and 
realized the money on Wednesday (June 24) through their regular drives 
against the traffic rule breakers.

Of the cases, Ramna division filed 85 while Lalbagh division registered 155, 
Motijheel traffic division filed 403, Wari division registered 181, Tejgaon 
division filed 173, Mirpur division filed 479, Uttara division registered 445 
and Gulshan division filed 239 against motor vehicles as well as three 
wheelers and motorcycles, it added.

A total of 498 motor vehicles were dumped and 367 were towed due to 
poor driving practices, said NM Nasiruddin, deputy commissioner (Media and 
Public Relations Division) of the DMP.

"The drives will continue to ensure discipline on the city streets," the 
release said, adding that the DMP has been working to bring the traffic 
system under smooth in the capital for giving city dwellers easy movement.
