KUET to be developed as a student-friendly, leading research university: VC

KHULNA, June 25, 2026 (BSS) – Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Masud today said the university would be transformed into a student-friendly, research-oriented and internationally acclaimed institution of higher education.

He made the remarks while addressing the "Orientation-2026" programme to welcome newly admitted students for the 2025-26 academic session at the university’s central auditorium.

The programme also marked the inauguration of digital library cards and KUET e-mail IDs for the freshers.

Director of Student Welfare Prof Dr Md Hasan Ali presided over the function.

Addressing the students, the vice-chancellor described admission to a university as a significant milestone in life and said the authorities were committed to ensuring all necessary support for the development of students' talent, creativity and innovative capabilities.

"We are moving forward with the goal of turning KUET into one of the country's leading research institutions. The knowledge, research and innovations you acquire here will play an important role in national development and in addressing global challenges," he added.
He urged the students to utilize every moment of university life for acquiring knowledge, conducting research, developing leadership skills and nurturing humanitarian values.

Former Director of BIT Khulna Prof M A Hannan addressed the programme as special guest. 

Among others, Dean of the Civil Engineering Faculty Prof Dr Khandaker Mahbub Hasan, Dean of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Faculty Prof Dr Md Rafiqul Islam, Dean of the Mechanical Engineering Faculty Prof Dr Mohammad Sultan Mahmud, Dean of the Science and Humanities Faculty Prof Dr Mohammad Abu Yusuf were present.

Registrar Engineer Md Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan delivered the welcome speech, while the deans addressed the students and emphasized the importance of discipline, ethics, academic excellence, research and human values in university life.

In recognition of his long-standing contributions to the academic and institutional development of KUET, the vice-chancellor presented a crest to Prof M A Hannan.

Later, Prof Masud formally inaugurated the distribution of digital library cards and KUET e-mail IDs by handing them over to three newly admitted students.

Under the new digital system, each student will be assigned a unique ID enabling access to university e-mail services, academic registration, fee payments, hall management, library services and various administrative activities through a single integrated platform.

On behalf of the freshers, students Afif Adnan of the Urban and Regional Planning Department, Pranjal Dhar of the Mechanical Engineering Department and Saiyara Islam Nipun of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department shared their experiences and expectations at the programme.
