DHAKA, June 26, 2026 (BSS)- State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury today called for giving the highest priority to cybersecurity and digital trust to sustain the country's rapid digital transformation.

“Bangladesh is moving rapidly toward a digitalization. Daily life, financial system, media platforms, education and commerce have become increasingly technology-driven. Alongside this transformation, cybersecurity and digital trust have now emerged as national priorities for sustainable transformation,” he said.

He made the remark while inaugurating Phoenix Summit 2026 at the China Friendship Conference Center in the city today.

He warned that the country's overall progress could be hampered if the security of financial transactions is compromised or public confidence in digital services declines.

All stakeholders must work together to establish a national cyber resilience framework and ensure responsible digital transformation, he added.

Emphasizing on creating public awareness, he said,“Unless citizens are made aware of cybercrime and misinformation, the benefits of digital transformation cannot reach everyone.”

“Today's platform would serve as a major benchmark in further strengthening the country's national cybersecurity and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting would always stand beside such visionary initiatives,” he said.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BRAC Bank PLC Tareq Refat Ullah Khan attended the event as the special guest. Chief Executive Officer of the Shadowserver Foundation Piotr Kijewski presented the keynote paper.
