766 drug traders arrested in Munshiganj in six months

MUNSHIGANJ, June 26, 2026 (BSS)- Munshiganj District Police arrested 766 people for their alleged involvement in drug trading and recovered a huge quantity of narcotics in last six months.

Munshiganj District police super said, different police stations and detective branch (DB) conducted the drives in various areas of the district to recover illegal drugs.

During the drives police seized 43,113 pieces of Yaba tablets, 71.88 grams of hemp, 166 grams of heroin, 34 bottles of Phensedyl, 62 grams of Ice (crystal meth), 31 liters foreign liquor, 315 cans of beer, and 12 cannabis plants.

A total of 766 people were arrested during this period for their involvement in drug trading. Following the arrests, 559 cases were filed under the Narcotics Control Act with different police stations.

Police said the Bede community area (nomadic community village) in Louhajang had turned into a notorious drug hotspot. However, the situation has now been brought under control following a joint drive by law enforcement agencies.

Talking to BSS, police super Minhajul Alam said police are on hard line against drug. Intelligence surveillance has been beefed up across the district. 
Anyone involved in drug-related crimes, regardless of their identity, will be brought to justice, he said.
