
RANGPUR, June 26, 2026 (BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has rescued a ninth-grade madrasah student and arrested her suspected abductor from Dhaka's Darussalam area on Thursday afternoon.
The arrestee was identified as Md Sabbir Hossain, 22, son of Md Hajir Uddin from Hariram village under the Pirgachha Police Station in Rangpur, according to a RAB press release.
According to the case statement filed by the victim's uncle, Alamgir Hossain, the accused is a relative of the family. Sabbir had reportedly been harassing the teenager with romantic proposals during her visits to his house.
On the evening of June 2, 2026, Sabbir and his accomplices allegedly abducted the girl from her maternal grandfather's house in Kuthibari village. The victim's uncle filed a kidnapping case with the Pirgachha Police Station the following day.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team from RAB-13 (Rangpur) and RAB-1 (Mirpur Camp) conducted a drive at 3:15pm on Thursday, rescuing the girl and arresting Sabbir near the Mirbari Adi Jame Mosque in Darussalam, Dhaka.
Both the victim and the accused have been handed over to the Pirgachha Police Station for further legal proceedings.
